Monday night’s finale of Bauer sucht Frau broke hearts for some and dreams came true for others.

Who did they get to see their life with and who was sent home in tears?
Before making their final decision on which woman they want to keep in their lives, the three remaining farmers set off to meet their future in-laws.
In a previous episode, it was the other way around when the farmer’s family members arrived to find out which beacons of hope would be best suited for life on the farm.
This time, each farmer wanted to get a glimpse of where their potential life partners are from – and whether they are likely to have a good relationship with the lilies.
First, Harry, a Victorian farmer, made his way to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast to meet Bronte’s relatives.
Bronte is a little older Harry – 27 to his 23 – and had already made it clear that she would like to start having children fairly soon.
Harry’s mum and two brothers were concerned that he was too young to think about it any time soon.
But the meeting went smoothly, with Bronte’s family impressed by his kind nature and maturity.
Wingham dairy farmer Ben was on his way to Sydney to meet Kiani’s mother, father and brother.
Kiani’s parents liked him but worried that the demands of running a dairy farm would not leave Ben much time to focus on the relationship.
It was time for Will to head to Madi’s family home on the outskirts of Melbourne to meet her mum, dad and grandma.
In typically protective fatherly fashion, Madi’s father clearly didn’t want his daughter to get hurt.
However, he said that Will appeared genuine and made a good first impression.
Then it was time for each farmer to meet their other partner’s families.
Harry was on the Gold Coast to meet Tess’ mother and friends who had a few pointed questions to ask.
Tess still has 18 months to complete a masters in psychology, and first she and Harry would need to be in a long-distance relationship.
Harry said it was important to be able to compromise if the relationship was going to work.
Even long-distance love would be possible, at least initially, if NSW-based Ben chooses Leish, who lives in Brisbane.
He met two of Leish’s best friends who thought he was the real article and then spent some time at her house.
In a separate interview, he said he was concerned Leish would have to give up her 11-year job and established life in the city if she were with him.
Eventually, Will drove to Jess’s family in Esk, Queensland.
Will said he was concerned Jess would become homesick if she moved away from her close family and friends.
During his meeting with Jess’ mother, sister and stepfather they gave him a good barbecue.
“If Jess moves there, will she meet any of your exes?” her sister once asked.
“Possibly!” He laughed nervously, adding that he only had two serious relationships before coming to Farmer Wants a Wife.
It seemed clear that her family wasn’t particularly keen on the prospect of her moving from Queensland to Victoria, where Will’s Farm is located, and that gave him serious food for thought.
With the family reunions wrapped and dusted, it was finally time for the farmers to open up about their decisions.
For Harry, it was all about Tess.
He admitted he struggled with the concept of a long-distance relationship – but he had fallen in love with her and wanted to be with her.
Tess was delighted and said Harry had spoken some “nice words”.
“Oh my god, thank you,” she repeated several times.
“I’m in love with you.
“I was hoping to find something real and it’s amazing.
“I’m just thrilled.”
Unfortunately, he then had to break the news to Bronte that he had fallen in love with Tess.
“Tess is very lucky,” said a clearly annoyed Bronte.
“But I understand why you love her.
“It’s not what I want to hear…but it’s okay.”
For Farmer Ben, it started with Leish – and it ended with her.
“From the moment I met you, you were always on my mind,” he told her.
“You’re real, you’re respectful.”
He worried that Leish was too settled into her life in Brisbane, while Kiani was ready to move on the fly.
But his heart was with Leish when all was said and done.
“Leish, I’m madly in love with you,” he said through tears.
“I’d love for you to run away with me and start this next chapter of our lives together.”
“I have to balance where I want to be and what I want my future to be like,” he told Kiani.
“And when I do that, I see a woman next to me.
“I said from the start that I would follow my heart.
“And my heart is not with you. My heart is with Leish.”
But Kiani was merciful.
“I’m so happy for you,” she said.
“I think the world of you. I just think you deserve to be loved the way you do… Yes, you need to be loved.”
Farmer Will admitted he was “torn” between Jess, whom he describes as “fun” and “exciting,” and Madi, who he describes as “kind, considerate, and caring.”
Madi was devastated and in tears when Will announced that he had chosen Jess.
“I’m so sorry,” he said, obviously feeling awful at having to tell her she wasn’t right for him.
“I still believe in love,” she later said.
“I have a lot of love to give. I’ll just wait my turn.”
With Jess, the reaction was very different.
“You pick everyone up,” Will said.
“I’m really falling in love with you.”
“Oh, I’m shaking!” Jess replied. “Yay!”
A delighted Will later said, “Honestly, I think I may have found a wife.”
“I’m really happy,” he added.
“I didn’t expect that at all.”
