Screenwriter-director Reeves confirmed that while Pattinson’s character research as the Dark Knight “wasn’t the usual way these films are made”, “Batman“Proud to be one”emo“Movie, even though it Rated PG-13.
“It’s a very Hitchcockian kind of perspective where you’re fused with his experience,” continued Reeves, adding that the story follows a “younger Batman, beyond his roots but not fully perfect.”
Star Jeffrey Wright, who plays Lieutenant (not quite a Commissioner) Jim Gordon in the new film, has called Reeves’ vision a “real departure” from previous Batman films.
“But at the same time, it is a throwback to the roots of comic books, which were built on detective and mystery works,” says Wright. “There is a perception of instability in Gotham that I think is reflective of the times. There is a perception of a certain class tension and widespread mistrust in Gotham. In the way that Matt has shaped the Riddler here, it speaks to a kind of virality that we see today used to convey certain ideas and propaganda. “
Producer Dylan Clark added, “I don’t want to over-hype [Reeve’s] I’m narcissistic about it, but I still say to myself, “Oh, I’ve never seen that.”
And Pattinson’s focus on performance has led to “one of the hardest“Good Time” that alum has achieved in his life.
“Normally, I don’t have any problems [leaving a character], but this is very inclusive. I just stayed in a hotel all week right next to the set because I had to get there at 4:30 a.m. to start practicing, and then you would practice after that, so you’d be done by 9. : 30 nights. You’re just constantly in that world,” says Pattinson. “When I look back at the photos of myself during the makeup check on the last day, I doesn’t even look human at the end of it. I look like I’m a bubble gum that’s been stuck in the street for three years and just shaved off and put on a Batman costume.”
But Reeves is ready for round two: “What I really want this movie to do is create a Batverse,” Reeves continued. “You don’t do a story and go, ‘This is Chapter 1’ because you might not be able to make Chapter 2. So the story has to stand on its own. But the point is that the world of Bats is so rich with so many characters that when you start to finish you can already start thinking about what’s next. Because the idea, of course, is that Gotham’s story never ends.”
“The Batman” premieres March 4.
