Barry Burbank enjoys 2022 blizzard as ‘powder hound’, but misses forecast duty – CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – Barry Burbank has spent decades forecasting major storms like the one that made landfall in New England on Saturday. So did he miss being in front of the WBZ-TV cameras while it was snowing all over the area?
Burbank, now is enjoy retirement after a 42-year Hall of Fame career, joined WBZ-TV from his home on Saturday in Snowstorm in 2022.
Chief meteorologist Eric Fisher asked Burbank if he remembered trying to forecast a historic weather event.
“I think I got ripped in the middle, cut lengthwise,” says Burbank. “This side says, I miss being there and being with you. Especially when I saw an ad for Storm Watch’s weather team. I wish I was still there with you forecasters. But the other side of me said, ‘You’ve been doing it for 42 years and you’ve weathered all the storms there.’ And no one was at home to help my wife clean up the driveway. Now I love being at home, and just going out and playing in it. ”
Burbank said Saturday’s heavy snowfall was “the most beautiful snowfall in the whole world”.
“It’s powder. And that’s what we ‘powder dogs’ love,” said Burbank. “I’ve got my skis. And I’ve got my snowshoes. You know me. I’m going to enjoy it. I miss being with you so much. You guys are there on set and forecasting these storms, I have to say it’s great to get out and play during these storms.”
