Barr makes interesting observation about Durham’s possible next move in ‘Russiagate’ Probe

Former Attorney General William Barr has given his thoughts on where he believes special counsel John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the so-called “Russiagate” conspiracy investigation will take place within a week. The interview aired on Friday.

Barr, who served as the second attorney general under former President Donald Trump, told Fox News Digital he believes Durham, whom he appointed in 2019, “will get to the bottom” of what really is. happened to begin the investigation of the GOP’s presidential campaign in 2016.

He also said the original Obama-era investigation and “collusion” narrative was a “created scandal” that had plagued Trump for much of his term.

“I think more indictments or not, I think Durham will get to the bottom of it as well as anyone can,” said Barr, who is discussing his new memoir, “One Damned.” Think After Another,” said Durham, adding that Durham will eventually release a “report that lays out the facts.”

“I think there will be, to the extent that humans can use the justice system, there will be disclosure of the facts involved,” he added. “Whether that supports further criminal charges, I don’t know.”

But, he continued, “I certainly hope that people, if they have committed a crime and we can prove it, that they will be held accountable.

“And certainly in my mind that’s what they would do if he felt he had evidence,” Barr said of Durham and his investigative team.

Barr tapped Durham, then a US attorney for Connecticut, to look into the origins of the Russiagate investigation. The initial investigation and allegations of collusion led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller, who found no such evidence.

“I have never seen an appropriate basis for launching a counterintelligence investigation against the Trump campaign,” Barr told Fox News.

As for most of the mainstream media and many Democrats, Barr said he’s not sure they “will ever accept the fact that this is a fake scandal and used in a party way.” faction against Trump.”

“You know, there’s evidence that the Clinton campaign developed this, and records and allegations about Alfa Bank and other things,” Barr said. “They’re basically part of the campaign plan – a Clinton campaign effort – and they really just bury all of that.”
