FC Barcelona right-back and club legend Dani Alves shared his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s departure and urged his former team-mate to return to Barcelona and play alongside him again.
Lionel Messi signed a two-year deal at PSG last summer after the Catalan side were unable to offer the Argentinean a deal due to their poor financial situation. Messi had to leave his boyhood club in tears and move to Paris to start a new chapter in his career.
However, the move didn’t seem to have gone well for the Argentine and things don’t appear to be improving for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner. The Argentine has only managed to score seven goals in the 25 games he has played for PSG.
Dani Alves, a former teammate and longtime friend of Lionel Messi, spoke to ESPN in an interview that took place before PSG’s Champions League elimination against Real Madrid.
“Messi is not having fun,” Alves told ESPN.
“He’s out of place for me. At the moment Leo is out of place there. Hope he can come back [to Barcelona]. I don’t know if it’s possible, but if he comes… let him come here with me.”
“Leo always said to me, ‘Where could I be happier than here?’ I am proof of that. Nowhere is better than here. For some reason Leo isn’t here today but I hope he can come back.”

Lionel Messi and Neymar are mocked by the fans at PSG’s Win Over Bordeaux
Lionel Messi and Neymar were among those mocked by PSG fans in PSG’s game against Bordeaux following their embarrassing and shocking knockout round of the UEFA Champions League.
PSG have long been aiming for the European Cup and made five important signings last summer. As might be expected, fans expected results. Instead, it turned out to be PSG’s worst season in Europe, having made it to the semi-finals and finals in the last two seasons. PSG were knocked out by Spanish giants Real Madrid who scored three goals in the last 30 minutes.
The Parisians have a 15-point lead over second-placed Nice and are on course to equal Saint-Etienne’s record 10 French titles, but the national title is not what the fan club has been craving.
