Banijay UK boss Lucinda Hicks resigns

Lucinda Hicks, CEO of Banijay UK, is stepping down this summer after 12 years with the combined group and two years after Banijay acquired Endemol Shine.

Patrick Holland will assume the position of Executive Chairman and CEO in May. “As of this writing, there are no immediate plans to replace Lucinda Hicks,” Banijay said in a statement.

Prior to assuming the position as CEO, Hicks served as COO of Endemol Shine UK following the merger of Endemol and Shine groups in 2015. She was appointed CEO when Banijay Endemol took over Shine in 2020. For the past two years, working with CEO Peter Salmon, Hicks has overseen the combined company’s growth strategy, including overseeing the acquisition of Znak TV by the group earlier this year, and was instrumental in the two-year non-script deal with Jack Whitehall and his production company jackpot involved.

Hicks said, “I’ve had the best 12 years. From working with the team at Shine to running Dragonfly; I worked with Peter Salmon and the Banijay team to figure out how to keep our shows on the air during lockdown to manage the post-acquisition integration of the companies. I’ve worked with the most amazing people and had more fun than I ever thought possible in a job. I am very proud of what we have achieved together, growing the business despite Covid, expanding internationally and attracting top talent on and off screen. With some of the best creative minds in the industry leading our labels and a company structured to be increasingly forward-thinking, it’s time for a new chapter.”

Marco Bassetti, CEO of Banijay, added: “Lucinda is a smart and talented executive with a commercial and creative mind, making her an integral partner in guiding the integration of our UK businesses following the acquisition of Endemol Shine Group. We are all grateful for their hard work to date in building a highly creative portfolio of businesses and a local group that continues to prioritize talent, innovation and their stewardship across the industry. While we are saddened that she is leaving, we wish her well in whatever comes next.”

Hicks has held a number of strategic and commercial development roles in the UK television industry, including at FremantleMedia, Channel 4 and the BBC. Banijay UK boss Lucinda Hicks resigns
