Backup plan according to Frankie Montas Trade

So the St. Louis Cardinals missed trading for a top-notch pitcher like Frankie Montas. mondays was treated to the Yankees on Monday afternoon, in case you missed it. The cardinals are will definitely be a team who regrets not acting for Montas. So where do the cardinals go from here? Who are they acting for? Here are some Cardinals rumors!
The Cardinals have a plethora of prospects and young MLB talent. They could go many avenues to improve their rotation or get Soto.
I think the main reason the Cardinals missed Montas is the conflict between him and Juan Soto. It turns out that the A’s and the Nationals both wanted it the same prospects from the cardinals in their respective professions.
This could mean the Cardinals are determined to take on Juan Soto, which would be a huge move for them. That might be her #1 plan, while Montas was a fallback plan. However, there’s no denying that the Cardinals need more pitching. They desperately need at least one after seeing Jack Flaherty and Steven Matz potentially suffer season-ending injuries.
There are many Cardinals rumors about starting pitching
Because of this, trading with Juan Soto feels more like a luxury than a necessity unless they plan on imitating the Rockies and trying to outdo everyone. A trio of Arenado, Goldschmidt and Soto sounds extremely scary if I’m a pitcher.
This could very well be their backup plan. However, let’s say they decide their backup plan is more powerful. They have already been associated with one of the best starters on the market Tyler Mahle. He is a cheap starter who is under control until 23 minutes. He would be the Cardinals’ No. 2 or No. 3 starter straight away.
Another option is Pablo Lopez of the Miami Marlins or Merrill Kelly of the Diamondbacks. Maybe they’ll go for the Giants’ Carlos Rodon. He’s an extremely talented left-handed pitcher who would bring a lot to the Cardinals.
Carlos Rodon would give them a left-hander in their rotation, playoff experience and a workhorse on the mound. Rodon is a rental which means it would come in a lot cheaper than the names previously listed. Other loaners could be Jose Quintana or Noah Syndergaard. Although Noah has a high salary.
Either way, the Cardinals will be on the hunt for pitching. Carlos Rodon could give them the best chance of winning this year. Look for them to try and acquire him.
