Authorities Investigate Deadly Crash During Police Chase – CBS Baltimore

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) – Maryland authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred following a stopover and police pursuit.

The state attorney general’s office said a Montgomery County sheriff saw a vehicle in violation of traffic laws around 1:30 a.m. Saturday in North Bethesda.

When the traffic police were stopping the car, the female driver drove away. She lost control of the vehicle while being pursued by officers and crashed on Randolph Road in Wheaton. The scene of the crash was about 2.5 miles (four kilometers) from the traffic stop.

The woman is presumed dead at the scene. One male passenger was treated for minor injuries and released.

Authorities said body-worn cameras and microphones and the officer’s console were activated during the incident.
