Paige Donald, who is part of the “Heroes” tribe, faced backlash from some viewers after her trophy-hunting exploits came to light.
But Donald, 26, hit back in an angry video statement released Monday night, urging critics to “go back to their damn place”.
The Queensland-based Mustererin describes herself on her Instagram profile as “a cowgirl living her best life chasing cows, big boars and riding broncs”.
Her feed is full of pictures from her trophy hunts, often posing gun in hand next to dead pigs, antelope, warthogs, kangaroos and dingoes.
Many of the photos are descriptive, showing the animals’ wounds while being propped up for photos.
Some of the photos were taken in Australia, others on trophy hunting trips to Africa.
In some videos, Donald shows her dogs cornering and killing animals while she laughs in the background.
The use of dogs to kill wild boar is described by the RSPCA on its website as “cruel and unnecessary”.
“Persecuted pigs will experience fear, panic and suffering, and for those killed by stinging, the death will be painful and protracted,” writes the organization.
In one photo, Donald poses with a dismembered kangaroo, while another shows a group of four dead dingoes suspended by their legs.
The images shocked some viewers, who took to social media to vent their anger.
“Paige’s Instagram is disgusting,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Omg. I didn’t know Paige was a Slayer,” wrote another.
“This is so disgusting, how can she be a hero for killing wild boars?”
“Paige kills animals for fun,” quipped a third.
“She’s not a hero and I can’t wait for her to be voted out.”
“Not that Farmer Paige is a proud hunter and posts pictures of her fresh, bloodied boars on her social media,” said another.
“No wonder @Survivor_AU hasn’t tagged her account in any of her posts.
“Can someone please explain to me why she belongs to the tribe of heroes?”
But Donald didn’t apologize, releasing a video statement thanking fellow Survivor contestant Rogue Rubin for exposing her as a trophy hunter for “all the new followers.”
“Yes, I hunt. I live in a world with animals that are sick and need to be shot,” she said, referring to animals that were sick or wild or animals that were “destroying” their livestock.
“I’m rewarded with a bounty for every dingo I get.
“You’re lucky I have thick skin.
“The amount of death threats and disgusting messages I’ve received on my social media is disgusting.”
She said her African hunting trip was almost 10 years ago when she was 17.
“And you can be damn sure I’ll be back one day,” she added.
Donald said she was once a veterinary assistant and that “the money you spend on the animal you shoot goes back to the animal and its safety.”
But some people were not satisfied with Donald’s answer.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” One person wrote under a post about a trophy kill.
“This is appalling behavior,” wrote another.
“Searching for help.”
