Auburn upset, blown away by Miami: College basketball media reacts

Despite high expectations and a talented roster, the Auburn Tigers were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament without even making it to the Round of 16 Sweet.

Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers looked like championship contenders until they completely disbanded. The Miami Hurricanes found a way to completely eliminate a talented Tigers team that could have made it to the Final Four.

But that is not the position of the tigers now. Auburn was eliminated and will leave to the disappointment of Auburn fans.

While it’s not uncommon for high-seeded teams to suddenly lose in mid-March Madness isn’t uncommon, it’s astonishing that the Tigers have lost. Auburn looks completely out of the box and out of the ordinary. The Tigers don’t seem to have anything to do with the Hurricanes, although Auburn looks capable of competing for the title this season.

Auburn lost 79-61. It’s bad. For Auburn fans, that is. Miami fans had fun. Those who liked to start against Auburn were also happy.

College basketball media? They were stunned.

March Madness: Twitter reacts as Auburn Tigers get crushed by Miami in NCAA Tournament

This result is not really expected. First, Auburn was expected to be a championship contender. They should at least create the Elite Eight.

That certainly won’t happen this season.

And this college basketball season is weird. Really weird sometimes. Of course, March Madness is upping that a bit, and the NCAA Tournament has several teams that are moving further than expected.

Of course, with a result like this, those with memes and jokes are also disqualified.
