Atlanta Hawks forward De’Andre Hunter misses 8 weeks after wrist surgery

Atlanta Hawks front Hunter De’Andre The team announced Sunday night to repair their right wrist injury on Monday and are expected to be out of action for eight weeks.

Hunter injured his wrist due to loss of Golden Empire Warriors on Nov. 8 He missed Atlanta’s next game in Utah but played 21 minutes in Friday’s loss to the Nuggets.

An MRI scan on Saturday revealed a tendon injury that would require surgery.

Hunter, 24, struggled with injuries early in his NBA career. He underwent right knee surgery in February and missed 49 regular games last season while recovering. He then tore a meniscus on the same side of his knee during the playoffs.

Hunter is averaging 10.8 points and shooting just under 40% from the 3-point range this season.
