Astros, MLB fans furious after Cristian pulled Javier from no-hitter

Cristian Javier had a no-hitter in seven innings against the New York Yankees, but Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker pulled him out of the game.

That Houston Astros are in the Bronx for a four-game series against the New York Yankees. With the first two games separated, the Astros had quite an eventful game on Saturday as they watched a Cristian Javier jewel.

Through seven innings, Javier carried a no-hitter after hitting 13 batters and leading one on 115 pitches. Still, he didn’t come out for the eighth inning. Astros fans, and MLB fans in general, weren’t exactly thrilled with the decision at first, despite the high score.

While pulling a starter from a no-hitter is never popular, the fact is that 115 pitches is a lot. Manager Dusty Baker made the decision to pull him off and it worked brilliantly.

Hector Neris entered the bottom of the eighth inning. Despite walking two of the first three batters he faced, Neris was able to get out of the jam by getting Joey Gallo to fly out and bringing Aaron Judge out for a forceout to end the inning.

At the end of the ninth, Ryan Pressly got the call to the mound. He beat Anthony Rizzo and Josh Donaldson in the first two at-bats and ended the game by getting Giancarlo Stanton to ground to secure the no-hitter.

Long story short, while some might have been upset that Javier was dragged seven innings into his no-hitter, he is part of a combined no-hitter. Astros, MLB fans furious after Cristian pulled Javier from no-hitter
