Aspiring pilot creates replica of Denver International Airport

DENVER (KDVR) – The creator of the MileHigh Aviation YouTube channel It took Preston Waller a year to recreate a replica of Denver International Airport.

“I built a giant DIA airport in my room,” Waller said.

Waller told FOX31 he fell in love with aviation after his first flight on United Airlines at age four.

“We were going to California and when we took off I was like, yeah, this is what I want to do,” Waller said.

Waller has built a handful of airport replicas, but he said his favorite so far is building Denver’s airport.

The terminals were 3D printed and purchased online. Then the remaining details he put on himself.

Waller’s replica includes runways and every hangar at DIA, including all correct replicas of the aircraft. Waller said he has collected over 300 replica airplanes since he was a child.

The airports and his replica aircraft take up most of the space.

“All I need is my bed and my airport and I’m good to go,” Waller said.

In addition to his collection, Waller is pursuing a degree in aviation at Metropolitan State University of Denver.

“My goal is to hopefully become a United driver at some point,” said Waller.

He is also currently attending flight school and working on 1,000 flight hours.

“I don’t want to sit at a desk, I want my office to be a big, open sky,” Waller said.
