Panama, participating in a Women’s World Cup for the first time, was no match for Brazil, who dominated Monday’s match from start to finish.

Before the fight, there were emotional scenes with players and fans crying as Panama sang their national anthem for the first time at a Women’s World Cup.

But after the tears were shed, it was time to panic.

Panama took the lead in the first minute when Bia Zaneratto slipped through Adriana, who tried to put the shot past Yenith Bailey, but the Panama goalkeeper saved the shot.

Brazil peppered Panama’s goal and in the 18th minute Debinha’s 25-yard free-kick went just wide of the post.

A minute later, the Selecao broke the deadlock and Debinha was involved again, this time cutting in from the left and hitting a cross at the far post. Borges dropped her tracer and was able to nod home unguarded from twenty feet.

Borges snagged her brace in the 39th minute, similar to the first minute. Adriana released Tamires on the left, who ran to the baseline and raised a cross to the back post.

Borges’ header was parried by Bailey but the rebound landed perfectly, allowing the Brazilian midfielder to put the ball in from close range.

Brazil wasted no time after the break and an impressive team effort added the third goal three minutes after the restart, making them an early contender for goal of the tournament.

Tamires slipped through Debinha on the left, who played a one-two in the box with Adriana completing the back pass with a clever flick.

Debihna crossed to the penalty spot where Borges controlled and formed the shot before blocking Bia Zaneratto with a superb heel heel. After Panama keeper Bailey was already signed, Bia Zaneratto shot into the net.

Brazil scored their fourth goal in the 70th minute when Borges completed their hat-trick after another attack down the left flank.

Substitute Monica countered and right-footed a cross to the penalty spot, where Borges darted across the box and headed through Bailey’s legs.
