Instead of dropping his gloves, New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin decided to throw one at Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand near the end of Friday’s game at TD Garden. Both have received wrongdoings from officials, but that is not the end for Panarin, who will have to pay heavy fines for his actions.
Via ‘s Twitter account NHL’s Player Safety Bureau:
NY Rangers’ Artemi Panarin was fined $5,000, the maximum allowed under the CBA, for Unsportsmanlike Conduct during yesterday’s game against the Boston Bruins.
Well, it looks like it was Panarin who dealt the more blow between him and Marchand, at least from a financial standpoint. Marchand made a life freed himself from opposition players, and he certainly succeeded against Panarin on Friday. While five dollars isn’t an amount you usually see on the couch, it’s relatively nothing for Panarin considering the fact that he signed a seven-year, $81.5 million contract. with Rangers in 2019.
Panarin and Rangers also got their last laugh of the game, as the 30-year-old left winger scored and assisted in a 5-2 win over Marchand and the Bruins.
