ARCA truck driver killed in highway accident

A driver of David Gilliland Racing’s ARCA team truck has been killed in a crash on a Texas highway.

The cargo truck for David Gilliland Racing’s ARCA team is involved in an accident on Interstate-20 in Longview, Texas. The truck driver, Steven Stotts, died in the accident. Stotts is 54 years old.

David Gilliland’s racing team said two passengers on the lorry were taken to hospital and released. The driver with a Honda passport involved in the crash is listed in stable condition, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The truck was on its way to the Phoenix Raceway in Arizona for Friday’s ARCA Menards Series event.

The Texas Department of Public Safety revealed in a preliminary report, h/t FOX 5 Vegas, that the pickup truck was behind the Honda Passport, towing a small trailer. The cargo truck lost control of its speed and crashed into the small tractor-trailer. The Honda hit the median divider and the trailer fell into the east lane. The trailer hit the divider and caught fire.
