Amid a rise in Omicron cases in the US, Apple is mandating a booster vaccination for all of its employees.

Apple employees must submit proof of Covid-19 boosters or be required to take tests to enter stores and offices from February 15.

Follow up to an internal memo seen by the tech website The Verge.

Apple will require unvaccinated employees — or those who have not submitted proof of vaccination — to provide negative Covid rapid antigen tests prior to employment beginning January 24.

Employees eligible for booster shots have four weeks to inject. It was not immediately clear whether this testing requirement would apply to both corporate and retail employees.

The move comes as US employers have plans back to the office was hampered by increased cases of the Omicron variant.

While Google has not yet mandated booster vaccinations across the company, it does require employees to have the first two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and be screened weekly.

Last year, Apple required the company’s unvaccinated employees to take daily tests before entering the office, while unvaccinated retail employees were asked to test twice. a week. The company also began requiring vaccinated people to take COVID-19 tests once a week, and has since reduced the frequency of these tests.

The US reported more than 337 thousand new cases of Covid-19 yesterday.
