According to a blog post, Electronic Arts is not only releasing a new Apex Legends update today, but also releasing native versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The new Apex Legends versions offer players several new features, including 4K output, 60fps gameplay, HDR, higher resolution shadow maps, and larger LOD distances.
PlayStation users will need to manually download the PS5 version to their system, while Xbox players will receive a Smart Delivery update to receive the optimized Xbox Series X/S version. EA adds that expected features like 120fps gameplay (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) and adaptive triggers/haptics (PS5) will be added to the new versions in a future patch.
The next-gen versions are scheduled to arrive today and will be released via the Warriors Collection event along with a new patch. The event will introduce a set of 24 themed limited-time cosmetics that unlock Crypto’s new heirloom: the Biwon Blade, which will eventually be collected. The Battle Royale game will see the return of the 9v9 Control mode and add the Caustic Treatment map. Arena mode gets a new map called Drop-Off, located above the Malta skyline.
