Aoriqileng responds to Cody Durden’s comment ‘brought him back to China’

UFC Vegas 43 was a night of fair fights with 11/12 decisive fights. It’s not that you can’t have compelling matches that go to the judges’ scorecards. But many of these are relatively equal affairs with unconvincing endings. Not much flash or excitement (Yanez vs. Grant excluded).
Among these bouts was a duel between flyweight boxer Cody Durden and “Mongolian Killer” Aoriqileng. Durden made the decision close to 29-28 because of some stiff wrestling, but it was his comments afterward that stood out more than the fight.
“I know it’s going to be difficult for him, but I have to send him back to China, where he comes from,” Durden told commentator Daniel Cormier in the cage.
Regular MMA fans have seen some pretty one-sided comments over the years, but this is the first time I can remember that I’ve heard someone use a variation of the mutter. muttering ‘Go back to ____’. The UFC commentators are unimpressed. Fighters and twitter fans were unimpressed. And Aoriqileng is certainly not impressed. The Mongolian took to Instagram to send a message regarding the incident.

“I exterminated this coward in the cage, but the judges gave him the opportunity to say something disgusting through his disgusting mouth,” he wrote. “There was nothing he could do in the fight, and I saw the fear in his eyes. He is a coward.”
There’s been no scrutiny from the UFC or ESPN on this, we’re assuming it’s just another example of ‘boxers saying nasty things’ as UFC president Dana White likes to frame it. Those who find Durden’s words offensive (including us) will have to deal with the hope that he’ll get kicked in the ass in a future fight. Or consider the Saturdays we spend watching a promotion that allow unchecked talk like this.
