Anthony Richardson put on a show at the Spring Game in Florida

The Florida Gators were holding their spring game, and quarterback Anthony Richardson had a pretty good showing.

The Florida Gators have hired a new head coach in Bill Napier after Dan Mullen was fired after a disappointing 6-7 season. So there will be question marks as to who will conquer the starting places. Did Anthony Richardson win the quarterback job?

During the team’s annual spring game on April 15, Richardson led the blue team to a 34-0 shutout victory over the orange team.

Richardson completed 18 of 24 pass attempts for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, the quarterback picked up six carries for 30 yards and a touchdown.

It’s important to note that these were the full match stats for Richardson. In the first half, Richardson threw 13 completions for 167 yards and two touchdowns on just 15 goals. Those two touchdowns came with a 19-yarder for Ja’Markis Weston and a 6-yarder for Noah Keeter.

Last season, Richardson shared playing time with Emory Jones as quarterback. Richardson threw for 529 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 59.4 percent of his passes, in addition to 401 yards and three touchdowns on 51 carries.

Now Richardson will likely be the team’s first quarterback for the upcoming season. It’s just the spring game, but Richardson is building some hype heading into the fall as the Gators look to put their disastrous 2021 campaign behind them.
