Another change affects the All-Star Mile lineup after Tuvalu is enchanted with a Lung Infection

Sydney-trained Sheeza Belter is the latest addition to the All-Star Mile following Tuvalu’s retirement.

Ranked in the top 10 in the public vote for the $5 Million All-Star Mile at Moonee Valley on March 18, Tuvalu was named after his unplaced run in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington am diagnosed with a lung infection last Saturday.

Trainer Lindsey Smith has issued a ban for Tuvalu, paving the way for Sheeza Belter to compete in Saturday’s 1600m event.

Sheeza Belter, who won the JJ Atkins Stakes Group 1 at Eagle Farm last June and beat the older fillies in the Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) three starts back, missed the start in the All-Star Mile by 2000 250 votes and finished in 11th place.

Before Sheeza Belter heads to Melbourne, the filly will compete in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Trained in Sydney by Peter and Paul Snowden, Sheeza Belter began her career in Perth and was ridden by Western Australian star jockey Willie Pike.

Sheeza Belter is part-owned by successful Dual Code rider Justin Warwick, who trained Material Man when that horse finished unplaced behind Mystic Journey at the first All-Star Mile in 2019.

Godolphin’s Cascadian found its way into the race during the week after Chris Waller-trained fangirl was ruled out.

Fangirl was named the emergency replacement after Jacquinot’s connections decided not to take up her starting option (after being voted on by the public).

But no sooner was Fangirl in than she was out when Waller announced Tuesday she would not be running because she was “best suited” at her home track for Group 1 George Ryder.

Mo’Unga, Elliptical and Hinged are the next three horses in order should another contingency be required for the All-Star Mile before Tuesday’s inspection.
