Former “Impeachment: American Crime Story” actress Annaleigh Ashford has joined the cast of the Hulu series about Chippenadles founder Steve Banerjee, now titled “Immigrants.” Ashford will play Banerjee’s wife, Irene Banerjee, in a recurring role.
Here’s how her character was described by the streamer: “A commercial accountant, Irene is the wife of Steve Banerjee (Kumail Nanjiani), the founder of Chippendales. Shy and modest at first, she gradually found her footing in the company, growing into a formidable behind-the-scenes force.
“Immigrant” tells the story of Steve Banerjee, “Indian-American businessman who started Chippendales. The series will detail the crazy, darkly humorous, crime-filled story behind the unique man’s journey into a cultural phenomenon.“According to Hulu.
“Immigrant” was written by Robert Siegel and executive produced by Siegel, Nanjiani, Dylan Sellers, Jenni Konner, Ramin Bahrani, Emily V. Gordon, Nora Silver and Rajiv Joseph, who will continue the series with Mehar Sethi. Siegel and Konner are co-hosts and Bahrani will direct. Jacqui Rivera is executive producer and Annie Wyman is co-producer. Program of 20th Television.
Alum “White Lotus” Murray Bartlett also recently joined the cast. He’s playing “producer and choreographer Nick De Noia, described by the streamer as a “charming, fast-talking New Yorker who makes sure he’s God’s gift to entertain”.
