The upcoming action thriller will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest on September 23rd before hitting theaters nationwide in November. The release date is marked with an exciting clip from the feature that sets the tone for fans of the genre.
The short clip titled “The Cost of the Lottery” looks Jessica Garza as a victim fighting for her life while a man pursues her in what looks like a supermarket storage room. Tension mounts as the man finds and attacks her, but she manages to shed some blood and save herself. The intense clip sets the mood and tone of the feature, making it clear that it may not be for the faint of heart.
Your lucky day plays on Christmas Eve and experiences a dispute over a lottery win in a small supermarket. However, things take a turn when victory turns into a deadly hostage situation. Angus Cloud was “absolutely perfect”
For Brown, the goal was “to make an exciting, funny and entertaining film” that could also explore deeper themes. As for working with Cloud, the writer-director feels “blessed” to have spent a short time with him. He shared, “For our conversations about the script, his stories about the time he rode along the coast on rails, those pitch-perfect improvisations he added to simple moments, his sense of humor. After the shoot, Angus told me something I’ve always wanted to say to him: “Congratulations bro, you did it.””
