Andrew Walls sues for racist assault, defended by Proud Boys

The Ohio The man accused of assaulting a young Black woman in a racist attack last month is now being sued by the victim.

In a viral video in early March, a man Akron Police Department identified as Andrew Walls26 years old, up to 23 years old Cameron Morgan and called her derogatory terms to both women and Negroes before punching her in the face and pulling her hair out into the street.

Morgan, who said she suffered a concussion and cracked lip, is now seeking $25,000 in damages and $25,000 in punitive damages from Walls. She is also asking him to pay her attorney’s fees, costs of the lawsuits and any other remedies the court deems fair and equitable, according to court filings obtained by Law & Crime get.

A man with the same name as Walls identified himself as a member of the Proud Boys in a January 2021 story in Akron signaling magazine. The man was also about the same age and looked very similar to the man seen in the video of the attack.

“This weekend, a gay Proud Boy was called a ‘fagot’ by a group of black people.’ When he staggered outside after being beaten, a chicken was gloating and taunting him,” McInnes wrote. “He lost it and punched her while using a race symbol. Media is running with those last 5 seconds. This story is far from over, and the truth will come out. ”

Versions of those events are not seen in the video of the attack.

“Not surprisingly, the Proud Boys and other white supremacists are defending Walls,” Morgan’s attorneys said. David Betras tell Law & Crime. “But we are adamant: he, along with anyone and everyone who supported and abetted him, will be held accountable for his actions.”

In the video, the man police identified as Walls is seen exchanging racial slurs with a group of white men outside a bar. He then abandoned the conversation when he saw a group of people walking down the street and walked over to Morgan.

When he approached Morgan, she objected to the man’s rhetoric. She spoke only a few words before the man addressed her with words that were offensive to both women and Negroes. The man then told her to “shut up” and punched her in the face.

The victim’s sister recorded the incident and shared it on Instagram.

Akron police have reported the scene Immediately after the fight dispersed, an officer of the department told Law & Crime. However, Walls is the only one still in the position, and looks to be finished after a fight, according to an incident report. The report filed by the response officer also said that Walls claimed he was the victim of a robbery.

Morgan reported the incident the next day, and soon people around the city, state, and country began sharing videos of the attack. Police also benefited from viewing the video and, within 24 hours, ordered Walls’ arrest, inmate records reveal.

According to Akron City Court records, Walls was charged with two counts of assault and one count of possession of a weapon while intoxicated. Assault cases have two distinct numbers.

Immediately after being settled, he applied for a $25,000 bail and was released from custody. A temporary restraining order was issued for his victim.

“I swore to sue anyone and everyone involved ‘into oblivion’ including the Proud Boys if I could connect them to the assault and Ohio law allows me to do so,” Betras said. “That is a power that I will not hesitate to use because white supremacy must be cast upon the ashes of history where it belongs.”

An attorney for Walls did not respond to a request for comment.
