Anderson Cooper announced the birth of their second son on Thursday on CNN before leaving the primetime show to take some time off.
“We have a lot of work to do tonight, but I want to start with the good news, which is also personal,” Cooper said. “In early 2020, in the dark days of the pandemic, I announced the birth of my son Wyatt.
“The pictures I showed were Wyatt taken just a few days after he was born. This is Wyatt today. She is almost 22 months old and so sweet, funny and the greatest joy of my life. If he looks particularly happy in this photo, it’s because he now has a younger brother. ”
Cooper then showed a photo of his eldest son and his newborn baby:
His name is Sebastian And I want you to meet him. This is Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper. He weighed 6.8 pounds at birth and was healthy and happy. Even his occasional hiccups are, to me, adorable. He mostly just sleeps and eats and he defecates for sure. But he did seem like a wise and caring lady.
Cooper said both of his children will be raised by him and his ex-partner Benjamin Maisani.
He also thanked a surrogate mother for carrying the child.
The host then gave the reins of his show to the network manager John Berman.
“I’ll be off for the rest of this week and next, and thankfully, the rest of this program will be spending time with my kids,” Cooper said. “Wishing you all good thoughts and happy days.”
Berman took over and commented on the photo of Cooper’s son.
“I couldn’t take my eyes off him,” Berman said. “He’s perfect. To go. Run. Run to home. Get back to him as quickly as possible you can.”
