Former NBA guard Yogi Ferrell left Panathinaikos of Greece in search of a better opportunity, HoopsHype relay via EuroHoops.net. Ferrell was unhappy with his limited role, in which he averaged eight minutes in five EuroLeague matches. The 28-year-old point guard has exempted by the Clippers in September after spending the last five years in the NBA.

- Fenway Sports Group wants to buy an NBA team following the completion of the NHL’s acquisition of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Axios ‘Dan Primack report. FSG has acquired franchises in different geographical markets. Not only did it own the Boston Red Sox, it also acquired a NASCAR team and football club Liverpool FC. It also has an investment in Spring Hill Group, a content production company run by LeBron James.
- Cavaliers big man Evan Mobley topped ESPN’s first rookie strength chart this season. Writer Mike Schmitz ratings Raptors’ Scottie Barnes and Piston ‘ Cade Cunningham 2-3, respectively. Mobley is currently sidelined with an elbow injury.
- Tony Allen asked Grizzlies to postpone his digital shorts retirement until next season, according to Evan Barnes of the Memphis Trade Appeal. Allen is currently dealing with federal charges over his alleged role in a multi-million dollar health insurance fraud scheme. Allen’s retirement from digital shorts is scheduled for January 28.
