In the viral video, which has been viewed more than 1.2 million times, Brett looks at a loss as she says she and her partner chose the middle name May for their daughter because she was due to arrive mid-month.

But her little girl didn’t wait – she decided to arrive in April.

“If your baby’s middle name is May (because) she was supposed to be born on May 17th but she arrives on the last day of April,” reads a caption.

But as she explained to her followers, they decided not to change her middle name.

“We haven’t changed it either,” she said.

Users were quick to point out that their daughter could have been named April instead.

“April is also a beautiful name,” said one.

To which Brett replied, “I agree! But it doesn’t go with her first name.”

“I would have named her April May,” said another user.

Another suggested that the new mother could have used the Mae spelling.

One commenter did just that: “Same here. We named her Ella-Mae as she was due to be born on May 11th. She was delivered on April 5 but the name stuck.”

Others joked about the story, with one pointing out that it was her daughter’s first “April Fool’s joke.”

“MAY or may not show up on time,” joked another.

In response to a commenter asking why the new parents decided not to change the name, Brett explained that it’s “still a common name.”

“It’s still a common middle name, and my middle name is Rita-May, so it still works.”
