Two days after Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa regained control of her finances and social media accounts from her abusive husband, she announced she was taking a break from streaming and she was “not sure” when she would return .

Siragusa is one of the top 50 most subscribed streamers on Twitch and the most viewed woman on the platform. She’s known for very long streams lasting 12 hours a day, pioneering the whirlpool meta, and making insane amounts of money on social media and OnlyFans. In the past few days, she’s been in the news heavily for a different reason.

Content Warning: Misuse

On October 16, Siragusa announced this to her viewers in the stream She was in an abusive relationship with her husband. She accused him of forcing her to stream, forcing her into denial of their marriage and threatening to kill their dogs. She also showed viewers text messages calling her a “stupid fuck”, threatening to leave her luggage at a hotel, giving away her money and deleting her social media accounts.

Siragusa’s last streamfrom two days ago, lasted about 14 hours, and she spent the first half tending and riding horses (she is previously told kotaku that she wanted to build a sanctuary for horses). She didn’t mention that she wanted to take a break from streaming, so it’s likely that decision was made relatively recently. kotaku reached out to Siragusa to ask when she would be back on Twitch, but received no response at the time of publication.

Her Twitter comments section was almost unanimously supportive. Other content creators and fans told her to take as much time as she needed and that they were waiting for her return.

In the dark world of Siragusa’s quote retweets, people criticized the way she posted a selfie with her announcement. Because women in a difficult situation are not allowed to post photos of themselves? Bros, please touch grass. I’m just glad to see more signs that she’s doing plausibly well.
