Amir Khan introduced a weight penalty to ensure Kell Brook hit their contracted weight limit of 149 pounds – two pounds above the weight limit.
Brook will have to pay £100,000 per pound over their contracted weight.
Their match is scheduled for February 19 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester.
“I know what we have to do to make this fight, bend over backwards, and I know this fight is only happening because of me. If I go over a pound, I will have to pay £100,000. Every pound is £100,000 so I can’t afford to do that,” Brook told The Sun.
Khan explained that he offered Brook an extra two pounds because his bitter opponent could no longer afford to put up a weight class limit – with Khan looking to avoid a situation where the blame is on broken war.
“The fight was at 149 pounds because Kell Brook couldn’t hit 147 pounds. If I said no to the weight limit, I would have to apologize again so I gave him permission but there were pictures. extreme financial penalties if he loses weight “If he goes over £149 there will be a fine because I let him be the bigger man,” says Khan.
“I knew he was angry and wasn’t the best response so he went back, I was against him already. The fight is done now, so he should let go of all the hate but he holds it all back and I think that could be a huge downfall for him. I could see how hurt he was by everything and I thought that could be his downfall.”
