Alexander’s wife Jenny confirmed the news on Instagram, writing: “I lost my husband yesterday. My children have lost their father.
“He suffered a stroke while working on a cruise ship in St. Kitts and couldn’t make it home to us.
“We are shaken. Please keep us in your prayers.”
The couple have three children, Jack (18), Roxy (17) and Sawyer (13).
According to a GoFundMe page set up for Alexander’s family, the wizard was taken to a hospital in St Kitts where he was treated in intensive care.
“Unexpectedly, suddenly… Scott’s family and friends are struggling to process how this could be real and are absolutely devastated,” said fundraiser organizer Ashley DeStephano.
“Those in his circle knew him as a good man, a loving husband, a caring father. A family man. The father who has helped with floats, science projects, Halloween costumes and school plays at his children’s talent show.
“We sat next to him at band and choir concerts, said quick hello at school events, or chatted at the edge of a sports field while watching our kids play.
“He obviously loved his family, his wife and three children.”
The magician appeared in the sixth season of the talent program in 2011 and made it to the quarterfinals.
His memorable audition was to make his wife completely disappear using water and levitation.
After the show, he appeared on Penn and Teller: Fool Us and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
He managed Caesar’s Palace on the Las Vegas Strip and performed shows on cruise ships around the world.
Alexander is survived by his wife and their three children.
