Amber Heard and Jason Mamoa lacked chemistry

Walter Hamada

AquamanExecutive Producer Walter Hamada testifies that Amber Heard and co-star Jason Momoa lacked chemistry.

AquamanThe executive producer said his co-stars are starring in video testimony played in court Tuesday belongs to amber and Jason Momoa “didn’t really have much chemistry together,” potentially undermining the actress’ claim Johnny Depps The alleged defamation harmed her career.

“The reality is that in movies it’s not uncommon for two leads to have no chemistry, and it’s kind of a movie magic and editing, the ability to put performances together, so to speak,” he said Walter Hamadathe president of DC-based film production at Warner Bros. Pictures.

“And with the magic of a great score and how you put the pieces together, you can sort of create that chemistry,” Hamada added. “And I think at the end of the day, I think if you saw the movie, they looked like they had great chemistry. But I just know it took a lot of effort to get there over the course of post-production. Sometimes not. Sometimes it’s easy. You just put the characters together on screen and they work. And sometimes it’s harder.”

Just days before Aquaman‘s release, Heard’s byline appeared in a Washington Post Commenting that she “became a public figure representing domestic violence” two years earlier. The editorial didn’t mention Depp by name, but this year she filed a restraining order, accusing him of intimate partner violence.

Depp filed a $50 million lawsuit accusing her of implicitly defaming him, and Heard later filed a $100 million counterclaim Pirates of the Caribbean Stern’s attorney Adam Waldman called the actress’ allegations a “hoax”. She demanded twice as much in damages as Depp, claiming he sidelined her fast-paced career with a smear campaign.

Throughout the trial, Heard’s legal team complained that Depp supporters bombarded them with rude hashtags and mean tweets, including #WeJustDontLikeYouAmber, #AmberHeardIsAnAbuser and #AmberTurd, a reference to Depp’s claim that Heard soiled their marital bed as a joke. (Heard denied the alleged defecation incident, blaming a Yorkshire terrier with intestinal problems for the poo caused by Depp’s cannabis use.)

Earlier Tuesday, Judge Penney Azcarate denied Depp’s request to have those counterclaims dropped, noting that it’s up to a jury to decide whether they stand. Depp’s earliest rebuttal witnesses targeted claims for damages from Heard.

Hamada testified that Heard was never fired from her aquaman 2 Option agreement or reinstatement by Warner Bros.

According to Hamada, a salary increase for Heard was never considered in this contract.

“Usually as a company that we make, we have a lot of issues when we’re making our deals with our actors, we get options for subsequent films and I think traditionally every option was renegotiated before I came into the company and one of the things we were trying to rein in was not renegotiating every deal with the understanding that people will come and make these deals and they understand that there will be options and there is a deal and there was big part of our philosophy that we would hold people to their options to move forward,” he said.

Hamada flatly claimed that Waldman’s allegedly defamatory statements were not considered in casting decisions.
