He is expected in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, with the maximum sentence for the offense of 20 years in prison.

The charges come as WA firefighters held silent protests at stations across WA.

Fireys, who had finished their night shift, raised banners in front of their stations at 8 a.m. over resource sourcing concerns.

“It’s not about the pay. I want to be very clear about that. Our firefighters, our members are over it because of the state of resources,” said Clem Chan, President of the United Professional Firefighters Union.

“Our firefighters are really concerned because it has the potential to impact the community.”
