Update 04/16/2022: Dataminers have revealed that the name of the bounty hunter’s agent is Fade!

New info on Valorant Agent’s bounty hunter

Officially, Riot Games hasn’t provided too much solid information. However, a recent State of the Agents article by Valorant character producer John Goscicki provided some interesting tidbits. First, the codename “Bounty Hunter,” which was datamined weeks ago after the launch of Episode 4, the first patch of Act II but was only acknowledged by the developer in this recent article.

Next up is the teaser image you see above, which shows a very Turkish looking cup of coffee next to what appears to be a Turkish Delight candy. If that wasn’t a enough indication of Bounty Hunter’s nationality, then the Turkish words would be “Herkesin bir korkusu var” anything but confirm. The phrase translates to “Everyone is scared,” which is a philosophy that aligns with the new agents’ abilities, as you’ll see below.

Bounty Hunter’s Name Is Fade, Dataminer Reveal (Article Update)

Well-known dataminer ValorLeaks found out that Bounty Hunter’s real name in game is Fade. The in-game description is included in his tweet below.

New Bounty Hunter Easter Eggs were added to the Training Grounds in patch 4.07

If you’ve been poking around the Proving Grounds since Valorant’s latest patch 4.07 launched earlier this week, you might have noticed a few changes. New areas have been added, as well as various Easter Eggs scattered throughout the assortment, relating to a Turkish Agent who is being hunted by Brimstone, Neon, Sova and the other Protocol members. It almost confirms that Bounty Hunter hails from Turkey, and the nature of the Easter Egg suggests it’s some sort of creepy creature/hunter that can inflict a near-sight-like ability. In other words, it seems like the leaked abilities we’ve listed below might well be legitimate.

Turkish Ad Teases Bounty Hunter Launch

And if we still need confirmation that Bounty Hunter is Turkish, ads in several Turkish cities tease the arrival of a new Valorant agent:

New Valorant Agent Abilities

Bounty Hunter has long been strongly suspected as an Initiating Agent, much like Skye, Sova and Breach. Popular dataminer ValorLeaks seemed certain of that in a tweet earlier this month after digging up files from the Episode 4 update patch. This wasn’t too surprising as there are only three Initiators in the game so far, fewer than any other agent type. Still, there was some speculation that Bounty Hunter might have been a controller. Not as it turns out.

In terms of abilities, the previously cited State of the Agents article spoke of the Initiator’s usefulness, which would feel a little more “intimate” than, say, Sova, whose arrows can count information across the map. However, Goscicki was clear that he didn’t want to spoil too much, so we officially have nothing further to do just yet.

Unofficially, though, it’s a different story: A huge leak might just have spilled the beans of all of Bounty Hunter’s skills. Don’t take this as gospel just yet as nothing has been confirmed yet, but the information below looks very real and many reliable sources (including ValorLeaks) seem to think it is correct.

Copied from u/I_Katie’s Reddit article, based on a leaked screenshot posted on a public Discord server they were on, the image highlights all of Bounty Hunter’s abilities. These are as follows:

  • C – Stray EQUIPMENT Fire to send out a creature that moves in a straight line in search of enemies AND/OR tracks. HOLD FIRE AND MOVE MOUSE to steer the creature in the direction you are facing. When the creature finds a lead or enemy, it moves towards it. Upon reaching the enemy, a 0.5 second cook time will begin and the NEARSIGHT will be the closest enemy for 3 seconds. Only one creature can cling to a TRAIL at a time.
  • Q – Grab EQUIP an Orb. FIRE to throw the ball. The ball flies through the air for a maximum of 1.5 seconds before it hits the ground. Upon hitting the ground, it snaps into place and begins to boil for 0.5 seconds. After 0.5s, a zone expands to 7m and all trapped enemies are locked to the center. Tethered enemies take 75 decay damage, are deafened, and cannot escape the zone normally for 5 seconds. Can be reactivated in flight to fall sooner.
  • EPursue EQUIP an Orb. FIRE to throw the ball. The ball flies through the air for a maximum of 1.5 seconds before it hits the ground. As soon as it hits the ground, it straightens up again and turns into an eye that can be destroyed. When the eye sees enemies, it reveals them and applies a TRAIL debuff that lasts 12 seconds. Can be reactivated in flight to drop the projectile sooner.
  • Xnightfall EQUIP this ability. FIRE to send out a wave of dark fog. If the fog comes into contact with an enemy, it will be TRAILED, DEAF, and DECAYED for 12 seconds.

As you can see, Bounty Hunter lives up to their name with a kit that allows them to track down enemies to literally hunt them down. They are able to inflict vulnerability through a new debuff called “Trail,” which illuminates both the target for friendlies and Bounty Hunter’s totems called Prowlers. You recognize the Prowlers as similar to Skye’s Seekers or Spike Rush’s Prowlers.

Bounty Hunter release date

Well, that’s information we just don’t have; official or unofficial, there’s no word on when Bounty Hunter will be released yet. For our money, though, it seems likely that they’ll arrive at the launch of Act III of Episode 4, which is about a month from now. So it’s not long now and we should have more information in the coming weeks as the release date approaches.

So for now, that’s all there is to know new Valorant agent ‘Bounty Hunter’ including all previously disclosed capabilities and information. Until we know, why not check out our latest article detailing all of Valorant’s agents into tiers? It’ll be interesting to see what tier Bounty Hunter gets into when they arrive!
