The first season of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s competitive season is underway. There’s a ranked mode where players can compete against other eager players to climb the ranks and prove they have what it takes to become a powerful Pokémon Trainer. Not every Pokémon is available to you for these competitions. Here’s what you need to know about all the locked Pokemon from VGC Season 1 in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

You’ll need to dodge a handful of Pokemon on your team if you want to take part in these battles. Thankfully, many of them are some of the rarer and harder to find Pokemon, meaning you shouldn’t have too much trouble putting together a decent team.

These are all of the Pokemon that were banned from rated battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Chien Pao
  • flutterman
  • Big tusk
  • iron bundle
  • iron hands
  • Iron Jugulis
  • iron moth
  • Iron Thorns
  • iron kicks
  • Iron Brave
  • Koraidon
  • Miraidon
  • roaring moon
  • Sandy shocks
  • screaming tail
  • glide wings
  • Ting Lu
  • Where Chien

These forbidden Pokemon are the Paradox Pokemon, which you can only find in Area Zero, and the Scarlet and Violet Legendary Pokemon. As long as none of these Pokemon are in any of these categories and you don’t see them in the list, you can add them to your team. You can prepare these Pokémon freely and easily use them in other Pokémon Scarlet and Violet activities, but they’re not a viable choice for the ranked battles.
