All commentators in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 is coming in 2023. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC as expected, but will also be available for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. It’s the first time a new Street Fighter game has come to Xbox in more than a decade, but that’s not the only big change. Street Fighter 6 also gets real-time commentary, but what personalities does this feature bring with it?

Real-time commentary in Street Fighter 6 explained
Up to this point, fighting game commentary is largely reserved for real-world tournaments with live announcers. Street Fighter 6 this time will integrate its commentary directly into the game. According to the PlayStation Blog, Capcom is “working with well-known commentators from the fighting game community and other recognizable faces to bring their voices directly into the game.”
As with sports game commentary, the goal here is to add flavor as well as offer tips and strategy throughout each fight. Four commentators have been named so far – three for English speakers and another for Japanese – although Street Fighter 6 will also offer subtitles in 13 languages. Below are the commentators who have been named so far.
Street Fighter 6 commentators announced
Jeremy “Vicious” Lopez
Lopez provides English commentary coverage in Street Fighter 6. He is a lifelong gamer on the series and currently hosts and commentates on Street Fighter League and the Capcom Pro Tour. Lopez often jokes about playing Sagat’s stunt double because of their resemblance.
aru
Aru comments in Japanese, although he has appeared at Street Fighter events around the world. Over 20 years of fighting game commentary, he has also made the rounds on Japanese television, radio and streams. Prior to his hosting career, he was also a competitive player. He’d probably have thoughts on our list of seven Street Fighter veterans we’d like to see in the new game.
James Chen
Fighting game historian James Chen is the first color commentator named for Street Fighter 6. Color commentary differs from play-by-play in that it usually plays a secondary role, designed to provide more insight into specific elements of the game or to answer specific questions. That should be interesting to hear in real time.
Yummy Steve
Conversely, Tasty Steve is all about play-by-play commentary; He is known for bringing a lot of energy to the table. Steve has been a commentator on many fighting game tournaments and he is also a streamer. Tasty Steve and James Chen were both announced during EVO 2022 where Juri and Kimberly were confirmed for the game.
