The undefeated mixed martial artist Khamzat Chimaev has taken the MMA world by storm. After winning both middle and heavyweight, he continues to challenge every top fighter in the UFC. His final performance against Li Jinglian was a sight to behold, and now he will most likely face former title challenger, Gilbert Burns.
He trains with light heavyweight legend and former title challenger, Alexander Gustafsson. Alex talks about Khamzat’s presence in the gym and how he works harder than anyone in the world. “He worked harder than I ever worked,” Gustafsson said. “At least he trains five times a day. In my prime, when I fought Jon and those guys back in the day, I fought three sessions a day, and I hit, 20 rounds each. My condition is crazy. But this guy, he’s better than me. He doesn’t feel tired.”
“He hits all the time“- Alexander Gustafsson affirms Khamzat Chimaev’s hitting is on par with his wrestling
Khamzat is known to be a wrestler, but he showed off his precise shots in the fight against Gerald Meerschaert. He knocked him down with a single punch, and now he’s practicing at the world famous tournament Tiger Muay Thai to further improve your skills. Gustafsson also talked about his punching ability, he said, “I’d better keep my hand. I’m not kidding. He hit very hard. He has this thing that he’s fast, and he’s got very good accuracy, so he doesn’t need a lot of power to take people down, because he knows what he’s aiming for and he hit anytime, anywhere. “
“I played with a lot of guys, you just laugh and joke and have a good time. But this guy, when he says spar, he means spar. It doesn’t matter if it’s me or the other guy, he just goes.” Gustafsson concluded.
