A 23-year-old Michigan man is this week behind bars after police say he brutally murdered his girlfriend’s 1-year-old son by knocking him to the ground multiple times.
Alex John Radulovic was arrested and charged Tuesday with one count of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree child abuse in the death of Alexander “Xan” ButlerRecords reviewed by Law & Crime recital.

Instead of seeking medical attention for the child, Radulovic allegedly placed Xan back in his crib and left him alone in the apartment “for a while” while he went for a walk.
While out, Radulovic is said to have smoked a cigarette and met Arian Wolak, who then returned home with him. Upon entering the home, Wolak told police he heard Xan make a sound he described as a “whisper.” When he went to investigate, he told police, the child had “severe bruises around the head and purple lips”.
That’s when Radulovic called 911.
When asked what prompted him to brutally smash the baby to the ground several times, Radulovic allegedly told police that Xan’s “frustration, fussiness and irritability” caused him to do so. harm the boy. He also said he was angry when Alissa left him alone with Xan when the baby “became like that.”
According to the affidavit, Radulovic later said he “was very upset and unintentionally did something wrong.”
During a meeting on Tuesday morning, Radulovic’s lawyer said his client had requested counseling on a variety of mental health issues but “claimed innocence,” according to MLive. He asked his client to be issued a low cash bond.
Emphasizing the serious nature of the alleged offense and the danger posed to the community, Grand Rapids District Court Judge Kimberly Schaefer was reportedly ruled that Radulovic was kept without bond.
