Actor and killer Alec Baldwin has denied completely shooting Halyna Hutchins on the set of “Rust,” according to a new report. An attorney for the Hutchins family said Baldwin was “blaming someone else” and did not accept responsibility for the shooting.
While appearing on “Dan Abrams Live,” attorney Brian Panish talked about his ongoing battle with Baldwin.
Daily rope report: “The cinematographer was accidentally killed when a gun Baldwin was holding on set ejected. The weapon has a real bullet when it is supposed to have a blank in it. The incident happened on October 21, and Hutchins’ family has just filed a lawsuit that partially blames the actor.”
“He doesn’t take any responsibility,” Panish said, adding that Baldwin, “denied any gun safety training, number one.”
“Secondly, he pointed a gun at someone on set,” the lawyer added. “You can’t do it without plexiglass and other precautions. Third, why are there bullets in guns to begin with are they fake or real? It’s just a squad. He had no intention of firing a weapon. He is not allowed to fire a weapon. No one expected him to do that, yet he recklessly fired his weapon while pointing at three people, killing one and injuring another.”
Daily rope continue:
The Hutchins family are suing Baldwin for punitive damages plus burial and funeral expenses. There are several other lawsuits pending, and investigations are continuing. Lighting technician Serge Svetnoy, the film’s script supervisor Mamie Mitchell, and filming staff Hannah Gutierrez-Reed also have pending lawsuits.
Meanwhile, the criminal investigation is still ongoing. The actor posted a video in January saying he was fully cooperating with the investigation into the shooting, contradicting rumors that Baldwin refused to hand over his cell phone to authorities. They have owned the phone so far.
