Alabama’s Bryce Young throws 559 yards to break Tide .’s one-game pass record

Alabama midfielder Bryce Young lit on saturday Arkansas defended for 559 yards, breaking the school’s one-game pass record, which stood for more than half a century.
Young sets a record when connecting with Slade Bolden for a 27-yard reception early in the fourth quarter to hit 488 yards for the game. The previous mark was held by Scott Hunter, who threw 484 yards into the match against Auburn in 1969.
Young’s 559 yards is also the second most in SEC history behind Mississippi State’s KJ Costello, who threw 623 yards against LSU in 2020.
Young finished 31/40 with 5 touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed for two points as the Crimson Tide won 42-35.
“He’s made really good decisions about who to throw the ball to, and I mean, he’s had at least four drops and he’s had a couple of downs,” coach Nick Saban of Alabama said. “But he had a great game. He really did a good job taking what they gave him.”
Three of Young’s touchdown passes were successful Jameson Williams, including a 79-yard shot in double coverage. The two also connect for 32-yard scores and 40-yard scores. Williams finished with eight catches for 190 yards.
With the win, Alabama edged out the SEC West to set up a head-to-head against Georgia in the SEC championship game.
Saban credits his players for their resilience against a difficult fixture schedule.
He said: “Playing in the West has been difficult. This year is very difficult”. “We won a few close games. Today we won a close game, and the resilience of the players contributed to that. The spirit of the game and what they mean to them contributed to it. part of that. But we need to fix some things that we’re not correct on the field.”
Young, a sophomore in his first season as a starter, has thrown 3,586 yards, 38 touchdowns and 3 interceptions this season.
