The SEC Championship game has always created a divide between the Alabama and Georgia fan bases.
Who knew it might also bring them together?
CBS broadcasters Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson had Crimson Tide and Bulldogs fans join forces to complain, often for the same reasons on opposite sides of the coin.
Alabama and Georgia fans wary of Gary Danielson and Brad Nessler
Danielson bore the brunt of the complaints.
Meanwhile, Nessler received equally praise and derision.
About every week fans complain about broadcasters like Nessler and Danielson. That is part of the job. They can even wear it as a badge of honor that Alabama and Georgia fans both accuse them of being fans of the other team.
Ultimately, Saturday’s game is all about the teams, not the broadcasters. Georgia is almost guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff Round, win or lose. It was Alabama that really needed a win to get in.
However, the Bulldogs have no shortage of motivation to outdo their opponents. Georgia hasn’t beaten Alabama since 2007. They lost to them twice in the SEC Championship Game and once in the playoffs during that six-time span.
