Braves aides AJ Minter thinks Atlanta could have beaten the Cardinals. only problem? Instead, they lost two out of three.
The Braves lost 6-3 to the Cardinals Sunday night, and it was Minter’s crucial eighth inning that played the biggest role in Atlanta’s loss. Minter gave up four runs in the inning, including two home runs.
Despite the series loss, Minter had plenty to say in the clubhouse as he defended his teammates.
“What a game we’re playing” said Minter. “We just keep doing it to ourselves. You gotta love this game. You come out and it’s gonna break your heart one night and then you come out and you’re the hero and on top of the world [the next day]. It was a tough defeat, but it was a great game.”

Distract a lot? Minter has been great all season. It would be okay to just say, hey, I didn’t have my best stuff today. But instead he went into a tangent about baseball as a whole, and even aimed at the Redbirds.
“We could have easily swept this series. We play great baseball. There’s no reason to hang our heads over it. It’s tough, it hurts, but we can wake up and keep playing,” Minter continued. for Justin Toscano the charter of the Atlanta Journal.
This comment shrugs off what just happened in a three-game set in St. Louis. The Braves lost two out of three games they played, including Sunday night, in heartbreaking fashion.
Sure, Atlanta is the defending champion until proven otherwise, but shouldn’t the Cardinals at least have their attention? Minter’s note that he doesn’t see St. Louis as a major postseason threat could be emphatic bulletin board material in October.
