Aidan Hutchinson sat in the middle of the coach’s chair to the Heisman ceremony

Michigan defensive midfielder Aidan Hutchinson was a man of the people, flying coach and sat in the middle seat on his way to the Heisman Trophy Awards.

As a defensive midfielder, Aidan Hutchinson has certainly become a more historical figure than most of the Heisman Trophy ceremonies included.

He doubled down on that personality with a trip to New York for Saturday’s festival.

Hutchinson flew coach and even sat in the middle seat.

It was a 6-foot-6, 265-pound human sitting in the middle seat. Can’t Michigan get him upgraded to first class for this one?

Aidan Hutchinson is vying for a rare defensive Heisman victory

Hutchinson made the trip, not as comfortable as it should have been, thanks to his stellar performance in the trenches for Michigan this year.

The defense had 58 tackles, including 14 tackles, 12 tackles from midfielders, 3 clearances and 2 forced fumbling when he was a senior.

Michigan made it to the College Football Playoffs in part because of Hutchinson’s influence up front. He’s dominated in some of the biggest games for the Wolverines, including three-time bouts against Penn State and Ohio State.

Now, Hutchinson hopes to become the first defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy since Michigan compatriot Charles Woodson took home the trophy in 1997.

Hutchinson will face a trio of quarterbacks, including Bryce Young of Alabama, Kenny Pickett of Pitt and CJ Stroud of Ohio State.

Win the biggest individual award in college football or not, Hutchinson will have a goal to earn the team’s collective pride. His Wolverines will play Georgia in the College Rugby Round on New Year’s Eve.
