7:24 pm: Canha and the Mets family are agreeing on a two-year $26.5 million bail, New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports (on Twitter). The deal also has an option, according to Sherman.
7:20 pm: The Mets are close to reaching an agreement on a deal with the midfielder Mark Canha, reports ESPN’s Jeff Passan (Twitter link). The 32-year-old has spent all seven seasons of his major league career with the A team.
Canha becomes the second biggest addition of the day for the Mets, who also agree to the terms with midfielder Eduardo Escobar with a two-year guarantee this afternoon. Canha will enter the club’s off-field mix, with most of that time presumably in corners. Despite his experience in all three positions off the pitch, he has never been appreciated as a striker and has scored numerous games in his career on the left.
More will come.
