After years without Silent Hill, Konami has opened the floodgates

silent Hill Fans can finally – finally! – be happy. Konami has confirmed that after inadvertently leaking some details earlier today, the popular survival horror game Silent Hill 2 will return alongside a bevy of others as a PlayStation exclusive timed game silent Hill Projects currently in progress. You can watch the stream via the embed below.

The stream opened with this iconic shot from Silent Hill 2 Protagonist James Sunderland stare in the mirror, asking if his wife Mary is waiting for him. James then walks through the misty streets of a city before we watch a cinematic montage of familiar sights rendered impressively with modern graphics. The trailer is short, but confirms at least three things: The Silent Hill 2 Remake is now available on wishlist on PS5, that’s it is developed by the Bloober team, and it will be banned for PlayStation (and PC) for 12 months after launch. Sorry Xbox fans.

Konami also talked a bit more about the other projects that are currently in development. We looked up Silent Hill Towerfalldeveloped by monitoring and Untold Stories Creator No Code. Details on this project are scarce, but if you’re familiar with No Code’s work, expect “deep psychological horror,” according to the studio’s creative director John McKellen.

Another project Konami showcased was Return to Silent Hillthe upcoming movie directed by Christophe Gans (the 2006 writer and director silent Hill), which “tells the story of a young man” who returns to town only to find nightmares.

There was a bit of talk about Silent Hill merch like shirts and statues before Konami jumped to a third project, what appeared to be a “completely new experience”. Titled Silent Hill Ascensionthe project is a “live real-time interactive series” that sounds similar Until dawn. You can change results, be part of the scenes and shape the scene silent Hill Canon. But if you screw it up, screw it up because there doesn’t seem to be a reset button. It is due in 2023.

The live stream ended with a final announcement of an all-new one silent Hill game titled Silent Hill f. Still footage showed a young girl exploring a foggy city; invasive tendrils slowly make their presence felt, followed by very colourful, all-consuming fungal (flower?) growths. The short trailer ends with a shot of the girl’s freshly plant-infested corpse just as her face is peeling off. Silent Hill f is being developed by Neobards Entertainment, with a story by Ryukishi07, creature and character design by kera, and produced by former Nintendo developer Motoi Okamoto.

This reissue of Silent Hill 2 has been rumored for a hot minute. Already in May 2022, Screenshots claiming to be related to the franchise have been doing the rounds on the internetWith layers of fear Developer Bloober Team attached to the project. Bloober Team announced a fully standalone horror game a month later layers of fear universe that appears to be some sort of reboot. However, the Bloober team is now continuing the development Silent Hill 2 remakewith Konami serving as the game’s publisher.

While Silent Hill 2 remake Possibly a PlayStation exclusive for 12 months after launch, the game will also be available for PC. Sorry Xbox folks.

Silent Hill 2 was first released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2. It used the horsepower of the new console for rendering notoriously dense, rolling fog which drove the atmosphere to hitherto unknown heights. The storyline had the protagonist James Sunderland visiting the doomed town after receiving a letter from his previously deceased wife Mary. As you can imagine, following the trail gets nowhere, and we’re beginning to learn that Sunderland is a very, very broken man.

Various sequels followed over the years, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, however Silent Hill 2 became a particular fan favorite for its fantastic atmosphere, terrifying situations and psychological depth. It also served as the first appearance of the now beloved antagonist Pyramid Head.

After years very little new or exciting silent Hill In terms of content, it looks like the fans are finally partying again, like it’s the year 2001 all over again.
