PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – As a child, Martin Ingelsby grew up going to Villanova games with his father. His father, Tom, was a prominent school guard from 1970-73.

But, that wasn’t Ingelsby’s only connection to Villanova. His brother, Brad, and my sister also went to school.

So does this mean the Ingelsby family will play his University of Delaware team on Friday against Villanova?

“We’ll have another shade of blue on Friday,” Ingelsby joked earlier this week on Eyewitness News.

On Friday, 15th seed Ingelsby’s Blue Hens will face 2nd seed Villanova in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Pittsburgh at 2:45pm.

Ingelsby said: “I’m really excited to see what our team is experiencing about March Madness.

Ingelsby knows how to prepare and compete in the NCAA Tournament. He helped lead Notre Dame to the second round in 2001 as the team’s starting point guard.

Villanova connections also do not start and end with Ingelsby on Delaware.

Striker Anthony Ochefu is the brother of Daniel Ochefu, who helped the Wildcats win the NCAA Tournament in 2016.

Striker painter Dylan moved to the Blue Hens from Villanova after the 2018-19 season. He’s second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.9 points and shooting 38% at three-pointers.

But Delaware is led by junior guard Jameser Nelson Jr. He is the son of the star University of St. Joseph and former NBA player James Nelson.

Nelson Jr., a product of the Haverford School, averaged 13.7 points.

The Green Hens, who just won the Colonial Athletes’ Association Tournament championship, will be full of wildcat fights. They entered the game as one Under 15.5 points, according to Caesars Sportsbook.

Villanova clinched the Big East Tournament in a win over Creighton following a superb performance from keeper Collin Gillespie.

Ingelsby said at the start of the season, the team had set its sights on entering the NCAA Tournament.

Well, now they did. Ingelsby and Blue Hens are approaching it as if they have nothing to lose.

Ingelsby said: “We are very excited about the game. “We have nothing to lose. We knew it was going to be a challenge for our team against a great Villanova basketball team, but it was a special moment, especially for our team, our college is part of this. ” After Entering Villanova Games, Delaware’s Martin Ingelsby Will Face Wild Cats in the NCAA Tournament – CBS Baltimore
