AFL youngster Rhett Bazzo pays heartbreaking tribute to late mother Kylie after tragic boating accident

Rhett Bazzo, a young West Coast tomboy, has paid a heartbreaking tribute to his late mother, who died in a boating accident last week.

Kylie Bazzo, 52, and her friend Deborah Burdon, 54, were thrown into the water when the vessel they were on hit a navigation marker in the Mandurah Estuary around 10pm on Saturday.

Burdon, a mother of two, was pulled from the water shortly after the incident but could not be revived.

Water Police recovered Kylie’s body Sunday night.

Rhett shared a series of photos of his mother on Instagram and was left speechless to explain the tragedy.

The 19-year-old lost his father – former WAFL star Steve – to cancer in 2015, adding that his parents will be reunited in the emotional tribute.

“My beautiful mother. Words cannot explain the feeling of not having you around anymore,” he wrote.

“Forever grateful for the unconditional love you always showed us. Thank you for choosing me.

“You are now reunited with your eternal soulmate. RIP mom.”

A host of teammates and other AFL players left comments on the post to support the youngster.

“I love you my boy,” Captain Luke Shuey wrote.

“I love you,” added Cambpell Chessar.

The West Coast has wrapped its arms around Rhett following the recent tragedy that has struck the family.

“It was quite a shock to Rhett and his family,” coach Adam Simpson said on Wednesday.

“They are dealing with that grief at the moment and the club is supporting them.

“We will give him as much time as he needs with his family. Football is not his priority at the moment.”

Simpson said the whole club was shocked by the incident.

“You know, Monday was difficult because of the tragedy and the shock,” Simpson said.

“So we had to adjust that and give a little support to both the players and our staff. We made it through the day.”
