The deal was the largest and arguably most complex in AFL history, with a total of four clubs and 13 picks involved in the deal, and you can read more about the monster deal here.

But while all four clubs walked away happily, on closer inspection it appears North Melbourne have caught the short end of the stick.

They traded Jason Horne-Francis and pick #1 for picks two and three, a future first-round pick, and picks 40 and 43.

List manager Brady Rawlings told the club’s website that they were happy with their overall result.

“We started this trading period with pick one and two two later selections. We now have picks two and three, plus Griffin, Darcy and two other third-round picks,” Rawlings said.

“Having two picks within the first three selections in a draft where we really evaluate the first three players is a great result for the club.

“The two picks in the 40’s will probably come after a couple of father-son bids in some places, so we have some flexibility there as well.

“We also believe that next year’s draft pool has some top-end qualities so adding Port Adelaide’s first-round pick gives us a really strong hand going forward.

“All in all, today prepares us well for the next trading and drafting periods.”

However, the fans do not see it that way and express themselves violently about it.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the responses Roos fans have given directly to the club Twitter.

“Embarrassing!! Couldn’t care more. We’re a laughing stock no matter how you swing it.”

“Honestly, Roos, that’s pathetic. We are a joke.”

“Worst trade ever. What were we thinking.”

“So pick one was set at 3, 40 and 43 and JHF was effectively pick 2 and a future first. It’s hard for me to see the logic of the pick-one swap.”

“Absolute dodos running this club.”

“Very very bad. Haven’t we been through enough as supporters?!? #Smoking

“This club is a laughing stock.”

“Son is crying, thanks.”

“This club is once again failing their fans, it’s getting harder and harder to follow them.”
