AFL legend Luke Hodge starts ‘sweating’ ahead of Brisbane Lions-Melbourne Demons game live on air as boy band cameo is shown on Channel 7

Luke Hodge; four-time AFL Premiership champion, two-time Norm Smith medalist, one of the greatest captains of modern times… and “boy band” singer?

Apparently so after Channel 7 co-commentator Abbey Holmes shared a video of Hodge dancing and singing on stage for charity late last year.

Hodge was playing a game of “Truth or Trash” with Matthew Richardson in pre-match preparation for Brisbane’s blockbuster Friday night clash with Melbourne when match official Holmes popped the question with a dizzying smile on her face.

“Our own Luke Hodge has a future in a boy band,” Holmes captioned a statement at the exercise, when video of Hodge dancing on stage was shown, as you can see in the video above.

“I was at the telethon in front of the stage last October and our own Luke Hodge … look at him – he does everything for the kids.”

“Oh no Hodgey!” said Richardson, laughing.

A red-faced Hodge was forced to defend himself.

“Hey, Richo, if you do something for charity, you have to get involved,” he said.

“The worst part is that I ended up forgetting my moves and just slipped on the floor in front, so I hope they cut that.

“Actually, after seeing that, I think there’s some truth to that, Richo! I will actually change my mind and go to the truth. Look at the moves!” Hodge added jokingly.

holmes: “This vision will forever remain in my mind.”

hodges: “This must be deleted and never shown again. I sweat.”

Richardson: “Hodgey, you get to say ‘no’ to things, mate.”

hodges: “It was for a good cause, Richo, it was for a good cause.”

Richardson: “You wore your hat backwards too!”
