Added ray tracing to Minecraft on Xbox, but quickly removed it

Microsoft has accidentally revealed that it is testing ray tracing support for Minecraft on Xbox consoles. The latest build available to Xbox Insiders included some support for the feature, but has now been removed by the platform owner after a hasty update of the situation.

Microsoft was quick to make a statement about including ray tracing in this preview build. It insists it doesn’t hint at plans for the game in the near future and that ray tracing was accidentally included. The early prototype has been removed and the preview build has been updated to the intended version.

However, fans still had a chance to glean as much information as possible from this build. An interesting factor is that the build used the Xbox Series X/S-optimized logo, which could mean ray tracing is coming to Minecraft on those consoles first.
