Actor Hugh Sheridan reveals secret marriage to fellow entertainer in bombshell interview

Hugh Sheridan has revealed they were secretly married to another entertainer nine years ago.

The actor, who uses the pronouns she/she, chose not to reveal the identity of her former spouse but said they work in the same industry.

“I can’t say their names because they were in the same industry, so. Couldn’t tell exactly, but I was married,” Sheridan said on Jessica Rowe’s Big Talk Show podcast.

“We were committed for about seven (years) and then we’ve been on the road a lot for the last couple (years) and it got too tough and, but we’re still very good friends.”

“I think privacy is personal and I think most people should have a right to it.”

The former Packed to the Rafters actor shared that only his close friends and family knew about the relationship.

“I found increasingly that if you don’t talk about your personal life, people can assume that you’re ashamed or that you have some kind of agenda or that you’re denying other people their self-expression by not talking about it,” he said Logie Winner.

Sheridan joked, “I have a few more marriages to get!

“There are many more engagements to come and I’m definitely single. I can now confirm that.”

“We did not make it”

The shock news comes almost a year after Sheridan split from fiancé Kurt Roberts eight months after announcing their engagement.

“At the moment we didn’t make it, but we tried very, very hard. I’m so sorry for us that it wasn’t easy and I’m sorry for the added pressure,” they wrote in November 2021.

Sheridan said at the time the split was a result of their busy work schedules, the COVID pandemic and the death of their father Denis.

“In retrospect, such a rapid initial publicity may have put too much pressure on us,” Sheridan continued.

“Maybe it was COVID or quarantine or we worked too hard (I take full responsibility for working hours), maybe it’s dad’s death or all of that.

“The point is that Kurt is incredibly nice, someone who genuinely cares about me and has helped me through a very difficult time.”

Despite this unsuccessful relationship, Sheridan is responsible for successfully dating her best friend Rebel Wilson with her friend Ramona Agruma.

The Pitch Perfect actress announced her new relationship in June, sharing that she’d found her “Disney princess.”

Just hours after the news broke, Sherdian spoke to 2Day FM’s The Morning Crew about the details of the setup and why Agruma is “lifting” Wilson.

“I put Rebel with different people and Ramona with different people,” they began.

“I’m a bit of a matchmaker in my free time but Rebel has been really tough and so has Ramona.

“Ramona is very smart, she speaks many languages, she is a really great European and Rebel is a very smart lawyer.

“I was in New York and I had just broken up with my ex and Rebel said to me, ‘I can’t imagine how sad you must be feeling. I’ve never really been in love.’

The actor said he believes “it takes a strong man for a woman to be that successful to stay with them and not get jealous and all that stuff.”

The Australian TV presenter said Agruma immediately came to their mind.

“Later I said to Rebel, ‘It’s a girl,’ and she was like, ‘Okay, fine,’ and Ramona was fine,” Sheridan shared.

The Packer to the Rafters star had known Wilson and Arguma separately for at least five years.

“I think it escalates things faster when you meet someone from a trusted source,” Wilson later said on U Up? Podcast about Sheridan’s matchmaking.
